The Whole United Self
The Mind, The Body and The Soul = A Whole United Self: Your mind is the part of yourself that makes your daily choices. Your mind is the part of yourself that allows you to analyze situations in your life, or road-blocks that come up and decides how your physical self is going to react to these situations. Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. It can help you in finding your meaning in life, it can help remind you that everyday is worth getting up, it can help you stay creative and explore new lands, but only if you feed it everyday and only if you feed it healthy foods. This also means healthy foods for your physical self and soul food, as all three are connected and if any part of the self is unhealthy, this also has an effect on the other parts of self, leaving you unbalanced.
Your physical body is what allows you to outwardly express your mind and your soul. What it is you are feeling or what message you are trying to convey to those around you. Not only in the face that you wear, but also in the clothes that you wear, your body language, the way you walk…with a heavy, angry step…or with a light whisper of a step, the way you walk says a lot about you. Look at your posture, how do you hold yourself? Do you slouch, expressing boredom or low self esteem? Or do you hold your back up and straight with your head held high, expressing belief and confidence in yourself to those around you? Your physical body and how you express it can say a lot about a person…look in the mirror and see what your body is saying about you. See what attention it needs to be the healthiest it can be. This doesn’t mean you have to be a toothpick to look healthy either. Does your skin glow or look dry and need pampered with some lotion? Are your eyes puffy and dark and need of some attention? Is your body stiff and sore and in need of some movement? If so, begin by doing some light stretches or yoga. When your physical body is healthy, it makes taking that step into the world just that much easier and lighter. It aids in the confidence that the mind needs to trust in self to carry and begin to incorporate this new you into your daily life.
The Soul is the part of yourself that knows no boundaries or restraints, no right or wrong and no good or bad. The possibilities for you are infinite to the soul. The soul allows your imagination to run free, to go beyond and dream your dreams, envision your life and see the beauty in it. Your soul is what allows you to know Love of Self and Divine Love. Your soul is seeking for Peace and Harmony within and without. The soul is your intuition, your gut instinct, and the hardest one to trust. Once this is connected to your mind and your body…your capabilities are endless. Once you allow yourself to trust in your soul, you can begin to step out and test your new waters and your new lighter self, and begin to walk towards your dreams that your soul has for you. With the mind, the body and soul all working as one, you are now walking with your whole united self. No longer weighed down by masks, no longer carrying the burden of unnecessary guilt or shame. You are walking on your Path to Inner Peace with a new sense of confidence in yourself and your body language is saying so.
You have discovered a new power within yourself.
Trust…trust in your mind to listen to your soul and your body to carry out this act of trust.

Awareness
Becoming aware of your mind, body and soul and the focusing on the goal of a whole united self, is the first step to overcome. That alone is half the battle of breaking free of the bondage of society. When you are focused on these aspects, then you are not focusing on the preconceived ideas of what everybody else expects of you, you are focusing on yourself and your soul and what it has dreamed for you. You are waking each morning and making a conscious decision to function for the well being of you. You are waking each morning and looking at your interior mirror, the mirror you were never before aware of. You are becoming aware of the signals your body is giving you that you may be falling out of balance. You are aware of your inner voice and the guidance with which it can offer you. Along with the awareness of self, there is also a new awareness of others, your surroundings, and the atmosphere around you. You are aware of how your reactions to situations also effect the actions and reactions of those around you. You are aware of how your energy affects others and how to use that energy to either warm up or cool down the energy of your surroundings. In your daily life you have learned that when faced with a difficult situation, through awareness and understanding, looking and listening within, you will find the answer and guidance with which you are seeking.
Some different ways of practicing your awareness would be incorporating a meditation into your day. This would allow you to get comfortable with your inner voice. Meditation is a union of the mind, body and spirit and achieving connection of them with your higher energy. When you are open to connecting with this higher energy, your “minds eye” or “third eye”, as some call it, is open to the guidance of your Greater Spirit. When your focus is inward and free from the restraints of the material or outside world, your mind can silence itself long enough to let go and relax and get it’s soul food it deserves after working all day. Morning meditation is good for starting your day off in a relaxed manner. Rather than rushing to get up and out the door, get up an hour earlier and allow your mind to find it’s healthy focus for the day. If you start out your day in chaos, chances are you will also finish it this way, and this leads to the imbalance of your moods. You are unaware of what is going on inside of you, you didn’t have your morning check up and you left for your day without a healthy focus. If an hour is too much to give yourself in the morning, then this can also be done with a morning shower. Getting up and washing off the night and letting the water flow over you while you look within and choose your Path for this day. Ask your inner voice for guidance, see what your body is telling you it needs to get through this day in as healthy a manner as possible. Learn to do a daily check up and become aware of what you are telling yourself through looking at your mirror within.
Another way of becoming aware is to start listening to your dreams. Your dreams are often your soul giving you a message. Work on remembering your dreams and becoming aware of them. When you are going to sleep at night, remind yourself to be aware of your dreams, and when you wake up, make your dreams your first focus of the day. Keep a dream journal beside your bed for notes if you wake in the night and when you wake in the morning. And remember, this is one of those things that “If at first you don’t succeed…try, try again”. A lot of people have trouble remembering their dreams, or think that they don’t dream at all. This could be due to lack of focus or lack of awareness. Keep reminding yourself and work on becoming aware. This will come with time and practice.
Childs play is another way to become aware. Your child spirit is the most honest one in you and is also connected to your higher spirit. If you learn to let your child out and make play time for it and then listen to what message your child self is putting out, you can learn a lot about yourself. Writing the report cards like I spoke of in the Path to Inner Peace and then looking back on those is a good way of becoming aware of listening to your inner self. Be creative and imaginative with your awareness.
Listen to your soul and feed it daily.
Look in your mirror within and do a daily check up to make sure you are walking your Life Path in the most healthy and balanced you that you can.
This leads you one step further towards your Path to Inner Peace.

Relationships
“When we hear the word relationship, we often think of the relationships that we have with others, not the relationship that we have with self, and this is the most important relationship we will ever have in our life.” The relationship that you have with yourself is the most important relationship that you have. If this relationship is an unhealthy one, then chances are, so are the rest of your relationships. If you don’t fully know yourself, don’t take care of yourself in the best manner possible, and are continuously lying to yourself, then chances are your relationships with others are not far off from this either. The foundation with which you form all of your relationships with is often built from the same foundation that you base your relationship with self on as well. If you are often telling yourself lies to help you get through a situation or issue in your life, then you are also lying to those around you, and this gets to be a pretty heavy load to carry after awhile, because where there is one lie…many more are built from that, and pretty soon, you don’t even know the truth anymore and this means you no longer know yourself. And if you don’t know yourself, then how can anybody else know you? Your life has become one big mask.
The same goes for taking care of your self. If you don’t take the best possible care of yourself and stay healthy in your mind, body and soul, then how can you take the best possible care of those around you? Pretty soon you find you don’t have the time to take care of yourself, your life is too hectic, there is too much going on and your calendar is full. How could you possibly find the time to take out for yourself? Then you find that you are running out of energy, your body begins to ache, maybe you start to get the sniffles or a sore throat and here begins the break down if you ignore the warning signs that your body is trying to give you. If you don’t take this time to take care of you, then you get sick and can’t take care of anybody. So again, you need to take care of yourself in the best manner possible to stay healthy to take care of those you love as well.
Next, do you know who you really are? What the things are that really make you tick and that you feel passionate about? And if you know these things, do you make time for them in your life? And if you don’t, why not? If you really love to do something, if it really makes you feel good and feeds your Soul, then it is something that you need to find the time for in your life. This is all part of having a relationship with self and uniting your mind, body & soul. If you have difficulty answering these question, then I suggest you sit down and write them out and figure out what it is that makes you tick, what it is that makes you who you are and what it is that you feel passionate about. When you are done doing this, make a commitment to yourself on how you are going to incorporate some of these things into your life. Make a promise to yourself to spend a certain amount of time a week on some of these things. And remember: The commitments and promises that you make to yourself are also the most important ones you will make. If you cannot keep a commitment and promise to yourself, then how can you keep them when made to another?
This is all part of taking care of you so that you can experience a healthy relationship with others as well. If you do not truly know who you are, then how can anyone else? And if this is the case, then you are not only missing out on a fulfilling and healthy relationship with yourself, but you are also missing out on a complete and fulfilling relationship with everyone else.
So you can see how the relationship with yourself is the basis of the foundation of all of the relationships that you have in your life and how important it is to build a firm one for you to stand on. Become aware of your own needs, the internal ones, not the surface desires based off of the material or external world, but the truly important ones. Become aware of what your body is trying to tell you, become aware of the warning signs it tries to give you when you are not living in your proper balance. Make a commitment to yourself to make time for your passions and feeding your Soul and if you don’t know what these are, then make a promise to yourself to figure them out and get to know yourself. If you have been lying to yourself about some things, then allow yourself the time to sit down and figure out how you are going to get back to honesty and make sure that this happens. You deserve nothing less than honesty and so do those that you love and that love you. In becoming aware of your mind, body and soul, you are also becoming aware of living in the present moment. This forces you to take a look at yourself in the here and now and what you are feeling, hearing, saying, it forces you to stop and pay attention to your surrounding right now as they are and as you are.
If you become aware at all times of your surroundings and self, then the past is no longer an issue and can be let go of, a burden you no longer need to carry around with you and you are one step closer to living a life of your own Inner Peace.

The Present
When you are living more aware of your surroundings and able to stop for a moment and take a look outside of the box at what may be going on, you are learning to live in the present moment and gaining a much healthier way of focusing on your life. You can never go back to what happened in the past and change it, you can never know exactly what is going to happen in your future, so you might as well focus on the here and now and try to have some say in your future, by carefully choosing what to do in this, present moment, that you are living in. By making the healthiest choice for yourself right now, you are also forming a healthier future life for yourself and your relationships. This is the best that you can do for yourself. Build a healthy foundation and relationship with yourself today…and then this will carry into your future steps with yourself and show up in every aspect of your life.
This is one of the hardest steps to take. This takes constantly reminding yourself that your past can no longer hurt you, unless you allow it to. This is almost a whole new way of thinking for some people, especially those that have been abused. But really give this some thought…if you are always remembering and aware of what happened to you in your past, how are you ever going to be free of that bondage? Are you not enabling this person or situation to continue to hurt you or abuse you or hold you back? Or are you really holding yourself back? Or is it a little of both? I tend to think it is a little of both. For you to truly heal and not allow the past to hurt or haunt you any longer, then you need to learn how to truly live in the present moment. It is then that you are truly free of the bondage of the past, free of the abuser, free of that situation and they no longer have control of you, but you have control of yourself! This is one of the biggest keys in staying within your whole united self, of truly letting go of the past, the old you, the you with all those layers…truly shedding them, letting them go and walking from the past and into the present moment. This…is True Freedom from bondage.
This is the first step onto your own Path to Inner Peace. This really does take some practice, self-discipline, and training of your mind. You will fall back into your old ways of thinking, you will give the past some thought, you will argue with others that still think in the old ways…but every time you realize this is happening and refocus yourself, you have grown and this is proof for yourself that you are gaining strength and control of your own life and have a healthier focus for yourself. You did not allow yourself to get sucked all the way in, you did not allow that mask back on, and you did not allow yourself to be the victim again! Good for you…give yourself a pat on the back and allow yourself to be proud and take notice of your new healthier mind. Allow yourself to enjoy this lightness that you feel without the load of the past on your back.
Another reason that this can be a difficult step to take, is that this also takes forgiving yourself for your own past actions that you may be ashamed of. And a lot of times, this is more difficult than forgiving the offender. We get very good at hanging onto our own horrific past actions to beat ourselves up with at any convenient time.
Living in the present takes letting these go also. Letting go of these attachments to the past are usually the last ones to go because it is much easier to beat yourself up during bad times than it is to beat up those you love. When you let go of these, there is no more beating yourself up, you have to forgive yourself and this also means having unconditional love for yourself, total acceptance of every part of yourself…the good, the bad and the ugly, and see yourself in your beautiful form that your Higher Power meant for you to be.
Being at Peace with every aspect of you, inside and out, at every present moment...Wow, what a concept huh?
This is the Divine Love that we are meant to feel, this is our Inner Peace that shines from the inside out for the entire world to see.
This is when you begin walking your Path and incorporating your Whole & United Self into your daily life, because you are now focusing on your present life rather than the past life.
You have learned how to start living in Peace.

Living in the present with others
Learning to live in the present within you is one thing, but living it with others and within society is another and takes a lot of persistence and strength and belief in yourself. It also takes having patience with those around you and that still think and live in the past. This is where the ripple effect that I talk a lot about comes in also. This is where you can start changing the ways that your loved ones live and gain a healthier relationship with them. You have to set your boundaries now and what you will accept from others. From the way they talk to the way they treat you. The change begins to take form. These new boundaries may be difficult for others to accept. Your new attitude about life and the way you choose to look at it may not be so easy for others.
Remember it takes time for people to accept change, remember that you did not arrive at this point over night either. Use your own experience to have patience with others. Use your own knowledge to help others understand you and live in the present as well. Try not to get frustrated with others ways of thinking and try not get pulled back into the old ways. The more you practice patience, understanding and living in the present, the easier it becomes and the stronger you become.
You don’t need to go out and announce to the world that you have changed. This can be a silent change within you. Practice calmness and breathing when dealing with others. Be aware of your breathing when faced with a difficult situation, if it gets faster…slow it down, keep your breathing calm and steady and this will help to keep you calm and living in the present moment and able to better handle the situation at hand. Also, if you take a moment to stand back and assess the situation and other person’s behavior, then you are also being silent and allowing that person to vent and not reacting from their negative behavior. Remember the power in silence, often times it will allow the other person the time to look at their own behavior as well if you are not busying their mind with your negative reaction to their negative behavior. The buck stops here and there is nothing to be said and often times here ends the argument. Do not feed into that negative trap…staying in the moment has the power to turn the most negative times into something much more positive. And if nothing else, it keeps one silent just long enough to give some thought to what is really going on. As I’ve said before, “Negativity feed negativity, as does Love feed Love, positive feeds positive…” and so on.
When thinking of feeding your soul, what sort of soul food would you rather have? Negative or positive? Well, the Universe feeds us back what we put out to it, so again, “Do unto others’ as you would have done unto you.”
And there is no better time to start then right now in this Present Moment.

Speed bumps & Road Blocks
Along your path and journey in this life, you will encounter a multitude of speed bumps and road blocks. And they will come in all shapes and sizes and natures, just because your walking a more Peaceful path, doesn’t mean you are free of difficult times! It means you now have a better knowledge of how to handle them and stay more in balance when they hit you. Hopefully you’re a stronger person now and can handle them in a calmer, more rational and peaceful manner. You no longer fall all the way into the deep pit of darkness when someone rocks your boat a little bit or the waves of life aren’t so calm. You are no longer consumed by these times. You have learned to go with the flow and ride the waves of life. Life itself isn’t going to stop testing you or teaching you lessons just because you have found some Inner Peace and Wisdom. Sorry. But you now have some tools with which you can use to handle life. You’re not weighed down with the past weakness’ you once had and you know that you are now strong enough to handle almost anything life can throw at you. You are a survivor of life, not a victim of life.
Being aware of your red flags, your own behavior and what your body is telling you, helps prepare you for the speed bumps and road blocks along the way.
Being aware of the energies surrounding you and how your body is reacting to it, can be a warning sign of things to come.
Your Higher Powers way of preparing you for times ahead.
Listening to your mind, body and soul in the present moment is the key to a smoother speed bump and just may allow you to avoid a potential road-block.

Crash & Burn/Death & Transformation
Often times when we speak of Death, people immediately think of the physical death of someone. But death can also refer to the death of our old ways of thinking, the death of our insecure self, the death of a relationship…it can mean many things outside of the physical meaning of death.
Transformation can also mean the transformation of an ever evolving, ever changing human being. This is Life isn’t it? Isn’t this what we do in life? Take the lessons that we have learned and transform them to fit into our daily life or who we are now. This also is part of the lessons of living in the present moment. The present life…not the past life. We can either let death take us before our time, or we can come back to life from death. It is our choice to make.
Ask yourself these questions: If I have to die today, have I loved enough in this life? What is really important? What do I want to achieve in life? How many years do I believe I still have to love and be loved? How long do I intend to wait before being present in this life? How long to I want to wait for “Later” to come around? Life is happening right now! Why do you want to wait for later if later may not come around? Love is happening right now! Why do you want to wait to accept love into your life later if later may not come? Why wait for tomorrow, when you can live and have love today? Just because you crash and burn one day, doesn’t mean it is your time to die. You can pick up the pieces of this death and transform them into priceless transformations of a positive influence or lesson in your life. It is all in what you do with it.
It takes the truest form of strength in your self to pick up the pieces and keep moving forward with life. Anybody can sit and wallow in self-pity, but the strongest of the persons, picks up the pieces…looks at them and learns from them, sticks the lessons in their pocket and continues with the walk, that much wiser than before the crash. It is your individual choice to either keep living in the past with the crash site or to leave it in the past and continue on in the present life you are living. But if you choose to keep living in the past with all of the hurt, anger, love lost, holding grudges…remember that is your choice and don’t force that choice of your lifestyle onto those around you. You are making your own bed and life, not everyone else’s around you. Don’t force your self-sabotaging behaviors onto those that love you. If you truly love someone or yourself, there should be none of this. If you are truly living in the present, there will not be any of this.
To live in the present moment, then death is a transformation of life. Each situation that allows you to fall or to crash and burn is a form of death in you, a form of release of the old self-sabotaging you, that which holds you back from living and loving in this moment. It is up to you to either stay dead or continue to die…or to be reborn and transform this death into a healthier form of you. You can look at life as “What does it cost me to love?” or you can look at it as “Look what love allows me to do and be!”
Always remember, The Universe gives back to you what you give to it and others. Everyday you have a choice of what your own future is going to hold for you. You are forming your life by what you are putting into this very moment. Make your choices wisely, make your choice the healthy choice for all involved, not just for yourself.
If you want love and peace and harmony in your life…then this is how you should be living your life. Show others the kind of life and love that you truly want it to be. Often times others actions or reactions towards you, are based off of what they perceive you to be, what message are you putting out to be heard? That of crashing and burning all the time? Or that of death and transformation in this present moment?
Maybe it is time you take this look in the mirror and find out.

Recovery/Rebirth
Recovering from a crash and burn is much easier said than done. By the time it is said and done you’re usually pretty beat down and weakened, leaving you looking around for a piece of hope to hang onto and a reason to get back up and struggle through the recovery once again. If you have your foundation built and have the strength of your inner self, then it is this that will give you the ability to begin crawling your way back up to recovery.
Often times one crashes or falls to the degree with which they had risen from the last crash, which means that you will again rise that much higher within your self if you look at the lessons learned from the crash and not only focus on the negative from it. You can spend your time sitting there and focusing on only the fall, or you can take it to the lighter side and figure out what you learned about yourself, others or life and turn it into a positive lesson and strength to walk that much taller with and knowledge of how to possibly better handle that particular situation the next time it comes around and tries to push you off balance or catch you off-guard.
If you can’t find any hope to look to, call a friend or your support system, write down one positive thought and focus on that to begin with, force yourself up to take a bath…start slowly with baby-steps, don’t try to conquer it all in one day and allow yourself proper recovery time. These things take it out of you in all aspects usually, mind, body and Spirit. But as I’ve said before, remember it is your Life that you are fighting for, no matter which one you’re looking at, because it takes all of these to be your Whole and Healthy Self.
Remember to live in the Present Moment, this will get your focus off of the past events that caused the crash & burn and you will be looking at right now and where you are, which actually in and of itself is the first step to healing. If you can do this then you are crawling away from the crash site and not enabling that situation or issue to hold you back any longer than it has to or you allow it to. And if you can do this, the healing begins that much sooner also and Hope sneaks in before you know it and you have something to hang onto and guide you through the rest. Just listen within and you’ll hear the whisper of your Higher Self guiding you through each baby-step that it takes to recover and return to a healthier you once again.
Look at these as experiences that give you the compassion, knowledge and understanding to possibly help someone else out when they crash and burn. The more you help yourself out of these crashes, the more strength you gain in yourself. Through this newfound strength, hopefully the revelation of “Everything I need is right inside of me” comes around to you as well. If you know this deep inside, if you can grasp this knowledge, wisdom and insight to your Higher Self, then you too will come to know that you can handle anything that the Universe or your Life, tries to throw at you.
You begin to recognize your red-flags and warning signs and can change course, or back up and try to redo it before it is too late, or you can change your behavior or reactions to healthier ones for all involved. If you recognized the red flags and warning signs, then this also means you are becoming more self-aware, looking within and listening to your Inner Voice. Bravo!! This is huge growth in and of itself, you should be proud of yourself. You are learning how to live in and look at this Present Moment and becoming more aware of your mind, body and soul and how they all communicate if you only are aware enough to listen. You are learning how to work with your own natural flow with the your Spirit and the Universe and your own natural gifts. Recovery is a form of Re-Birth.
We are in a Cycle of Life, Death, and Re-Birth, for as long as we are here in this Life. We Live a little, a part of us dies each time we face a crash, and with each recovery, we learn a lesson and are reborn with a higher knowledge of how to better handle our life and start living again sooner or later…. to again crash. This is the Cycle of Life…it is up to us whether we are going to walk through it blindly, or walk through it with open eyes, aware of our self and surroundings and experiencing it and learning everything from it that we can.
Learning how to walk a Path of Peace, in the middle, balancing between the Light & Dark times that cross our Path.
Always remember that the choice is yours and everything you need to walk a Path of Peace is within you.

Maintenance & UpKeep
There are certain things that you can do on a daily basis to help maintain a healthy you. These are some of what helps you walk away from the crash and continue walking forward, once you gain some strength. It is important for you to keep taking care of yourself once you are feeling better also. Often times, people stop “taking their medication” once the symptoms go away…this is the same, just because you are feeling better, doesn’t mean that you don’t need meditation, or time for yourself, or your special baths. All of those are important parts of your daily upkeep of your healthy self. Without them, like without food, you will get ill again. Feeding your Soul is just as important as feeding your physical body.
Some ways of keeping track of your self are to write down what your routine is when you are at your healthiest. What is it that you see you are doing that is helping you maintain a healthy focus? When you then see some of your red flags or warning signs, take a look at your life and routine and see where it is differentiating from your routine on a healthy day. Compare and take notes and refocus yourself. If you need an extra little 5 minute meditation time in your day at this time, then do it. Make the effort to get back on track. The reward is well worth it if you avoid a crash. Know what your “panic button” is.
Set up a little “Air Bag” to cushion you if you are beginning to fall. I know that there are a few folks that call me when panic sets in, and I have a “panic button” person also. Everybody needs at least 1 of these. If you have one, do you use it? If not, why? And if not, then it is time you allow yourself to use it. Again, the reward is well worth it if you can avoid a full blown crash.
I am also going to mention yet again the importance of time to your self. Setting up a “Sacred” time of the day just for your Soul feeding. You can either make it the same thing everyday, or make it a play time one day and the next day a meditation time, or extra bath time, or time to read a certain book you’ve been meaning to get to, writing or drawing…make it yours, in whatever you choose to do. The focus needs to be on you and your inner self and feeding your soul.
Another aspect you need to look at is physical movement. Some people don’t get as much of this as they think they do. When I look at my life, if I didn’t make sure and do Yoga daily, I wouldn’t get a lot of physical movement at all. So really take a look at your life style and make sure that you are getting your physical movement in. If you find that you aren’t, Yoga is a really good place to start with this. It is a slow process, it focus’ on uniting the Mind, Body and Soul and this makes for a Whole Self exercise. It heals you from the inside out and enables you to walk a more balanced Path to Peace.
Stay aware of your thoughts. If you feel yourself slipping into past, negative thoughts, bring yourself up to the here and now. Allow yourself to look at where you are right now in this healthy moment and remind yourself that you don’t live in the past. Leave it right where it is, in the past. Remind yourself of your lesson and look at right now and what you need to do to stay here. Regain your focus, and continue forward on your walk, each step in the present moment.
Work on being aware of your “breathe”. This is a very useful tool to use to help keep you calm, and it is always with you, wherever you are. Learn to take a look at how you are breathing when you are upset, if your breathing is raised, then focus on calming and slowing down your breathe. If you are focused on your breathing, then you are not focused on your upsetting situation. This helps you to refocus, calm down and gain control of yourself.
Walking a Path in Peace and Balance takes staying aware and a daily commitment to self. It takes putting forth the effort to do the things that help you get healthy and stay healthy. Nobody can do it for you or make your daily choices for you.
It is your Life and your Life Choice to walk a Peaceful Path or not.
Make the choice to Walk in Peace...
~*~Happiness and suffering Are dependent Upon your own mind, Upon your interpretation,
They do not come from outside, From others,
All of your happiness and All of your suffering Are created by you,
Your own mind.~*~
